I’m getting my skin ready for winter with Aveeno® and sharing my tips with you as part of a sponsored post with Socialstars. #Aveeno

Hot Cocoa! Scarfs! Yeah! Cooler weather means a few things. It’s time to break out those super cute sweaters and boots. But it also brings super dry, dull skin. How do you prevent that from happening?

How to save your skin this winter.

Today I’m sharing simple tips on how to keep your skin hydrated this winter

Drink More Water

Drink water to keep your skin from drying out this winter.

While your intake of warm drinks will inevitably increase as the temperatures drop (who can resist a PSL?), don’t forget to drink your water!

Our bodies hydrate from the inside out and water is essential for keeping our bodies running the way they need to.

While it makes perfect sense that you need more water when temperatures are high, we often don’t make it a priority as the seasons change.

Make it easy for yourself by building water consumption into your winter routine.

Have that second cup of coffee but be sure to drink a glass of water in between. And keep a reusable, refillable bottle of water with you throughout your day to make sipping easy and convenient.

Turn Down the Temperature

Turn down the water temperature when you wash dishes.

Hot water can zap the moisture out of your skin, so make sure to keep your shower water a little bit cooler.

Similarly, when you are doing dishes, keep the water lukewarm while you are just rinsing, to give your hands a break.

Of course you need to have the water HOT to kill germs but try to get into the habit of changing your water temperature as needed to protect the skin on your hands.

Look for a Gentle Hand Soap

If you are a mom (and even if you’re not!) you probably wash your hands a million times a day. Kids can be gross.

All that washing means that your hands will take a beating in the winter. My knuckles used to crack and bleed every year until I made some of these changes myself.

Look for hand soap, for your kitchen and bathroom sinks, that is gentle so it won’t contribute to drying out your hands.

Moisturize Your Skin More Often

Also, you will need to moisturize more often. Keep hand lotion by the sink and put it on immediately after you dry your hands.

And while you may use a daily moisturizer as part of your makeup routine, you may need to add in a night cream as well during the winter.

Swap Bar Soap for Body Wash

Use a body wash instead of bar soap during the winter.

Swap out your bar soap in the shower and use a Daily Moisturizing Body Wash. This wash by Aveeno® has natural oils that help replenish the moisture in your skin.

The colloidal oatmeal soothes irritated skin and will help your skin look and feel softer. It’s gentle and hypoallergenic which is great for sensitive winter skin.

Use a Humidifier

While we usually only use a humidifier when we are sick, using it on a regular basis in winter, may actually help keep your skin healthier.

Winter air tends to be dry, so putting moisture back into the air is helpful in keeping skin balanced. Be sure to change the water daily to keep it free from mold and bacteria.

Try Aveeno®

Aveeno® products make it easy for you to look your best by keeping your skin healthy.

My cracked knuckles were a constant companion for about 3 months out of the year. They were painful and ugly and definitely didn’t make me feel beautiful and confident.

I’m glad that by following the hints above, like using AVEENO® Daily Moisturizing Body Wash, I don’t feel like I need to hide my dry skin anymore.

Now those cute cozy sweaters only need to hide those extra holiday pounds I always put on (and are totally worth it!).
