While this basic Hot Artichoke Dip recipe is a favorite tailgate dip to serve for game day, it also makes a yummy sandwich filling! With its mixture of cheese and tangy artichoke hearts, this recipe is one that you’ll crave.

This simple, original appetizer recipe is super easy to make and is great for a crowd! There’s no wrong way to make these Hawaiian Roll Sliders. You can add as much or as little filling as you want and you can toast the rolls or not. Totally versatile.

Please note that this recipe does NOT include spinach. Because, yuck. I know that it’s popular to have in this dip but no. Not here. Not ever.

This is comfort food at its finest. And these are great as party appetizers.

What you need to make this slider appetizer recipe.

With Parmesan and Swiss cheeses, this dip is rich and flavorful. But you can use another mixture of cheese if you prefer.

Because of all the bold flavors from the cheese and garlic, it’s best to use artichoke hearts that are NOT marinated.

If you have to use frozen artichoke hearts, make sure they are thawed and drained well first before adding to the other ingredients.

Any flavor of King’s Hawaiian Rolls will work. I grabbed the honey wheat variety but the regular flavor would be just as delicious.

How to Make Sliders with Artichoke Dip

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

1. Make the Dip

Prepare your Hot Artichoke Dip by combining mayo, Swiss, and Parmesan Cheese, garlic, and artichoke hearts in an oven-proof dish and baking for about 25 minutes.

2. Make the sliders

In the meantime, split the Hawaiian Rolls in half using a serrated knife. If you’d like you can toast the split rolls in the broiler until crusty and golden.

Add 1-2 tablespoons of dip to one side of the roll.

Continue on the rest of the rolls. Then complete the Artichoke Dip Sliders by putting the other half of the roll on top.

3. Reheat or crisp up the sliders for serving

Serve warm. Just pop the sliders into the oven (or broiler to toast up the buns) to warm them back up if needed.

Tips and tricks

  • These can be greasy due to the mayonnaise and cheeses so be sure to serve with plenty of napkins.
  • To make this appetizer even more outrageous, you can add another slice of Swiss cheese, shredded chicken, bacon or even brush the tops of the rolls with garlic butter!
  • To make this recipe even easier, you can pick up Costco’s ready-made artichoke dip!
  • Use a larger size Hawaiian Roll to make this more of a meal. But I will warn you, the dip is heavy and cheesy and greasy. You may want to have Tums on hand…

Store leftover dip in an air-tight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. If possible, store the dip and bread separately. Bread that hasn’t had dip added to it can stay fresh in the bag it came in or plastic storage bag for a day or two at room temperature.

Yes, you can make these ahead of time. Make the dip, but don’t put it on the bread. Let cool and store in the fridge. When it’s time to serve the Artichoke Dip Sliders, reheat the dip and scoop onto Hawaiian Rolls.

Can I add meat to the sliders with artichoke dip?

Yes. Either turkey or rotisserie chicken would be a great addition.

For the dip

  • Mix chopped artichokes, mayo, Parmesan cheese, Swiss cheese and garlic together in an oven-proof dish.
  • Bake in 350-degree oven for about 25 minutes until bubbly and golden.

For the sliders

  • Split each Hawaiian Rolls in half with a serrated knife.
  • Toast rolls under the broiler until golden brown. (optional)
  • Dollop 1-2 tablespoons of artichoke dip on the bottom halves of the rolls.
  • Add the tops to the sliders then serve these Artichoke Dip Sliders immediately.

Notes

  • You will be left with extra dip so if you’re having a party, you can buy a second bag of rolls or serve leftovers with tortilla chips. 
  • These Artichoke Dip Sliders can be greasy due to the mayonnaise and cheeses so be sure to serve with plenty of napkins.
