Cinnamon Sugar Toast Bar Holiday Brunch Idea
Make the holidays extra sweet this year with this fun and super simple Christmas brunch idea.
Gather flavored sugars and toast up some bread for a Make Your Own Cinnamon Sugar Toast breakfast bar.
It’s a delicious way to start the day and especially perfect if you’ll have overnight guests.
Cinnamon Toast is the BEST
I don’t know about you, but I LOVE cinnamon sugar toast. It reminds me of my childhood and I love to make it for my own kids.
A cinnamon toast buffet, with different types of sugar mixes, would be a great easy brunch or breakfast idea for any holiday.
Especially on New Year’s Day when you want to celebrate but might be feeling under the weather… (Because, drinks).

Setting up a Make Your Own buffet or bar is always a great idea when people aren’t gathering for a traditional sit down meal.
And this one couldn’t be easier. A few flavored sugars, some softened butter, cinnamon and toast is all it takes. Serve this on its own or as part of a larger Christmas brunch.
How to set up a Make Your Own Cinnamon Sugar Toast Bar
Make or buy flavored sugars
I have a great spice shop near my house where I find all kinds of fun ingredients. I’ve been addicted to their spiced sugar, with allspice, mace and cardamom, for years so I knew that had to be one of the options for cinnamon toast.
I also picked up some Mexican cocoa, which I mixed with some sugar to give it more sweetness.
And I mixed some dried lavender and honey powder with sugar. Sounds good, right? I wanted an option that was truly unique.
There really isn’t a recipe. Mix the sugar mixtures to taste! If you need a little bit of a guide, you can check out my Lavender Sugar recipe right here.
Since I can’t keep my air plants alive (yup, I even kill succulents), I decided to use my glass terrarium ball things to hold the sugars.
Regular bowls are totally passe but can totally be used if you don’t want to buy anything special. Obvi.
Set up the breakfast buffet
Designate and area, that can be accessed easily by anyone to set out the ingredients for the cinnamon toast.
This could be a buffet table or even a section of a kitchen counter.
Toast some delicious bread, like a yummy Sheepherder’s sourdough, or put out a toaster for guests to make their own.
Set out softened butter to make it easy to spread along with butter knives or spreaders.
(OMG if you haven’t tried my Brown Sugar Bacon Butter yet, you must! It would be too sweet to top with more sugar but it is MAGIC).
Set out the cinnamon (if you have a shaker, this would be great!) and sugars and make sure you have enough serving spoons.
Plates and napkins are all you need for this easy Christmas breakfast idea.
A little bit of greenery adds a nice, wintery touch to the table.
Let your guests put their own cinnamon toast topping on based on their liking.
You shouldn’t need it, but there is a printable recipe card at the bottom of the post with instructions for how to make a basic Cinnamon Sugar Toast recipe.
My recipe is very straight-forward. No broiling, torching, etc, like some of those fancy food bloggers with cooking shows make.
Holiday breakfast is served
All of these items can sit out for a while without any food safety issues which is great. No one wants a runny tummy on Christmas.
Serve it with coffee, champagne punch, spiced pear bellinis or a Mimosa Mule.
This easy holiday breakfast idea is a good one on it’s own, as part of a larger brunch and especially great for overnight guests.
Since you’re probably making a large holiday dinner, start of the day with a simple, delicious cinnamon sugar toast buffet.
Then go find a nice quiet place to eat it by yourself. Because you know you’re going to shove it in your face.
