Muddled Tangerine Infused Herb Water Recipe

Quench your thirst with this muddled tangerine-infused herb water. Ready in just minutes, this spa water with basil and citrus is fantastic to sip on a hot day and is great to serve your guests for any summer party.

Tangerine-Infused Water is easy to make and refreshing to sip on when you want something a little more jazzy than plain water.

Fruit-infused waters are a great way to encourage yourself to drink more water, to enjoy a low-key mocktail and is also a fancy (but ridiculously easy) way to keep your party guests hydrated with a larger batch for a party.

You can get creative and use all kinds of fruits and herbs to make unique flavored waters. I love the way basil plays with the tangerine in this recipe!

And basil is one of my favorite smells ever. Every time you lift this glass to your lips you are met with a nose hug from the basil. Gah. So good.

Serve it to yourself while putzing around the house or for your next summer gathering.

What you need to make tangerine-infused herb water.

If your kids are like mine, they love to snack on tangerines. Which means you probably have some hand. If you don’t, you can make this with a regular orange.

*Side-note: Mandarins, clementines and tangerines are basically all the same. You can use any of them in this recipe.

Fresh basil pairs well with the subtly sweet citrus. You can swap it out for rosemary, thyme or any other fresh herb you love.

I don’t love sweet drinks, but if you need to, add a bit of agave syrup or simple syrup to add just a little sweetness. Normal spa water doesn’t usually have sugar added so it’s totally up to your preferences.

I like to use regular water to make this more like spa water, but you can also make it with plain club soda if you want to add some fizz.

How to make tangerine-infused water with basil

Step 1: Muddle

Muddle the tangerine and basil in the bottom of a glass.  

If you are using a sweetener, now is when you would add it. I don’t like sweet drinks so I just skipped that part. But if you need it to cut the citrus with, I will not judge.

Step 2

Add ice and water.

Boom. Done. Drink up. So easy.

I like to use a bar spoon to give it a quick stir.

What is so great about this herb water is that the longer it sits, the more flavor your water will get.

Your eyes will love this, your nose will love this and your mouth with love this.

Tips

You could always make a large batch of this ahead of time to really get the fruit to infuse. I like to add double the amount of fruit and herbs to a pitcher and muddle in there. Then I add water and keep it in the fridge.

As I pour myself a glass throughout the day, I’ll add more water. And it just keeps infusing. It’s so great!

And if serving at a party, there are two ways to make this recipe. You can make it in two containers, serve one and keep a backup in the fridge. Swap them out when the first one gets low and keep the newly refilled one in the fridge until needed.

Or, you can make it in a large beverage dispenser and just replenish it with fresh water as needed.

Make it your own

You can very easily turn this into a cocktail with a little vodka and soda!

Muddle the basil and tangerine in a glass then top with iced tea instead of water.

Notes

Want this fizzy? Swap out plain water with club soda.
Use iced tea in place of water for a totally different but still refreshing and delicious drink.
You can increase the amount of fruit, herbs and water and make this in a large batch for a party.
Turn it into a cocktail by adding club soda in place of water and adding a shot of vodka or gin.
