Let’s make this easy Cinnamon Iced Coffee recipe.

There are times, in every mom’s life, when she’s drinking multiple cups of coffee a day.

And while the caffeine is wonderful, sometimes we need to jazz up that basic brew. Sometimes I make Spiced Coffee when having friends over or on Christmas morning. Or I’ll make a Homemade Cinnamon Coffee Creamer.

This Spiced Iced Coffee recipe is perfect for the afternoons when you feel like you deserve a treat but don’t just want another cup of coffee.

Why this recipe works

This easy recipe allows you to take a store-bought coffee and make it extra flavorful. And in just a few minutes, you’ll have a super simple homemade version of a coffee house drink.

Ingredients

A bottle of cold brew, an orange and some spices on a table.
What you need to make orange infused coffee with cinnamon.

I picked my cold brew coffee from Whole Foods but you can find it in more refrigerated sections of your grocery stores because I knew it would be bold and flavorful. I ain’t got time for weak, wussy coffee.

You’ll need an orange for the zest and some warm, holiday-like spices (like cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves to make this extra flavorful coffee drink.

You don’t have to use whole spices, but I think the flavor and scent is SO much better. It’s not a make or break situation. Use what you have.

Add a little half-and-half and some agave or simple syrup if that’s how you prefer your coffee.

Or you can really level up and use this Vanilla Cinnamon Simple Syrup.

How to make Orange Spiced Iced Coffee

1. Zest the orange

There is something about the smell of fresh orange zest and nutmeg that makes me want to wrap some presents. (And keep in mind that our holidays in Southern California are often rather warm…).

A jar full of ice on a napkin on a table next to an open cocktail shaker with iced coffee in it.

2. Add ice to a cocktail shaker

3. Add the cold brew and spices

Just add the cold brew coffee, spices and orange zest to a cocktail shaker.

4. Add sweetener and milk if using

Add the sweetener, if using. And you can add the half and half now also, just know it will get frothy as it’s shaken.

Shake it off, shake it off. Heart breakers gonna break break break break break…Sorry, Taylor Swift just gets me.

As you may know, sometimes when you add spices to beverages they don’t mix in well. So I used a cocktail shaker to really incorporate them. And it chills it nicely.

And it reminds me of cocktails. And it looks cool.

To Serve

I love to drink my cinnamon coffee in a jar with fresh ice. Then a little more fresh nutmeg grated right on the top is the perfect way to finish this refreshing drink.

It looks pretty and the fragrance is like, whoa.

To Store

Pour yourself a serving to enjoy and then just keep the rest in an air-tight container in the fridge.

Be sure to mix before pouring another serving as the spices may settle in the bottom.

This spiced iced coffee recipe with orange is so simple, so delicious and so flavorful.

You know how orange goes really well with chocolate? Well it goes equally well with coffee.

Tips

You could add a little bit of chocolate and turn this into an orange mocha. YUM.

That’s what is so great about this cold brew recipe. It can be modified to include tons of different flavor options. You can even add a little pumpkin and make this a fall favorite.

Make some cold brew ice cubes ahead of time if you want to ensure there is no dilution from traditional ice melting.

Also, feel free to change up the flavors you use. Cardamom would be delicious. And a little bit of vanilla would be heavenly.

If you want to make a larger batch, you can! Just modify the recipe to account for multiple servings.

Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of coffee is best for this iced coffee drink

I like to use a store-bought cold brew for this iced coffee drink. It’s made by soaking coffee beans in water to extract the oils, caffeine and sugars. You can make cold brew at home but buying from a stores is a real-time saver.

Cold brew also tends to be less acidic so it’s easier on your stomach.
If you don’t have cold brew available, you can absolutely use regular coffee. You can simply save your leftover morning coffee and put it in the fridge to chill. Or you can make a batch to pour over ice. Keep in mind the hot liquid will melt the ice so you should aim for the coffee to be extra strong to start.

Can you add cinnamon to coffee?

Of course you can! There are several ways to do it. You can add the powdered spices to it like we do in this recipe or you can brew coffee by adding cinnamon to the grounds like I do in my Spiced Coffee recipe.
