Spring Mule recipe with blueberry and lemonade
A delicious Spring Mule recipe with fresh blueberries and lemonade!

Make this quick blueberry lemonade cocktail to kick off your happy hour! This refreshing drink will help you usher in my favorite season. It’s one of my favorite Moscow Mule variations!

Why you need to try this Spring Moscow Mule recipe

Like all my favorite Moscow Mule recipes, this recipe starts with vodka and ginger beer.

But to make this Blueberry Moscow Mule feel spring-inspired, I decided to use store-bought lemonade plus a kick of fresh lemon to add a certain brightness to the drink.

Instead of mint, I decided to use thyme to garnish. Because spring is my favorite “thyme” of year. Get it?

We always seem to have blueberries in the house during spring. My kids love them and they are a great addition to their yogurt, cereal, waffles and as an afternoon snack.

I can’t think of a way to make blueberries more mom-friendly than muddling them in a cocktail. I mean I guess you could put them in a smoothie… (side note: have you ever had a wine smoothie!?)

This Lemon Blueberry Moscow Mule would be a really fun spring Mule to serve at Easter. And since my birthday is in April, this would make a great signature cocktail if I had a birthday party.

Step 3

Add the lemonade and vodka.

Bottle of ginger beer with a bottle of bitters, lemonade and a copper mule mug also in shot.

Step 4

Add the ginger beer.

All ginger beer has a unique flavor so use the brand that you like the best. I like to try different brands when I see them.

This Cock N’ Bull brand is said to be the inventor of the original Moscow Mule recipe so I had to give it a try.

Step 5

With a bar spoon, mix the Moscow Mule with lemon and blueberry.

Garnish

Clap a few sprigs of thyme between your hands to release the oils and then garnish the drink with it.

You can also add a few fresh berries to the top or a lemon slice. Or skip it.

I think a garnish should smell good and make a drink look pretty but not be too intrusive. I hate when you’re taking a drink and the garnish manages to go up your nose.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use a blueberry simple syrup instead of whole blueberries?

The blueberry flavor in this recipe is on the subtle side. If you want to give it more bold blueberry flavor consider making a blueberry simple syrup. I don’t love overly sweet cocktails or drinks so I like to use the fresh fruit instead. But, do you, boo.

Can I remove the fruit pieces from my Mule?

I don’t mind fruit pieces in my Lemon Blueberry Moscow Mule but if that bothers you, you may want to strain it. You can make this (minus the ginger beer) in a cocktail mixing glass and strain the drink over ice before topping with the ginger beer.

Can I use homemade instead of store-bought lemonade in this recipe?

If you don’t like the idea of using store-bought lemonade, you can skip the fresh lemon called for in the recipe above and use your favorite homemade lemonade.

I love herbs in my drinks, is there a way to add more thyme flavor?

If you want to try to infuse more thyme flavor throughout the whole drink, consider adding a few leaves to the mug and muddle it along with the blueberries. Or make a blueberry thyme simple syrup.

Bruising the leaves helps to release their oils and infuse the drink.
